Neil Patrick Harris chosen as 2015 Oscars host!
I am beyond thrilled with this little bit of news.
Neil Patrick Harris has finally landed the Holy Grail of award show hosting gigs: the Oscars.
NPH cleverly revealed the news himself in a video link on Twitter in which he can be seen on the telephone saying, ‘I’m in.’ Then he follows up by saying, ‘Nice.’
That is followed by panning down to a ‘bucket list’ that has such things as ‘write an autobiography’ and ‘get married.’ At bottom of the list is ‘host Oscars’ and he places a check before that item.
Neil will be the first openly gay man to host the movie industry’s biggest night. Ellen DeGeneres, a two-time host, was the first lesbian to host and was a big hit last year.
The Tony and Emmy winning star is an experienced host of major award shows. He has hosted the Emmys twice and the Tonys four times.
His film credits include a supporting role in Gone Girl, the current number one movie in the US.
The 2015 Oscars will take place 22 February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
