Nate Berkus remembers his late partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, who would have turned 55 today

View this post on Instagram

Fernando would have turned 55 today…it’s hard to believe that it’s been 16 years since the tsunami. His brother Marcelo keeps his art alive by hand-weaving photographs using the same technique Fernando used to make these unique art works. In honor of his birthday, for the month of August, @fernando_bengoechea_photo is donating 10% of proceeds from the sale of each woven photograph to the Tsunami Relief Fund via @globalgiving. 4 Remarks

  1. Nate is amazing. And so is Jeremiah! Thank you for noticing and perhaps help in keeping Fernando’s art alive? And help people still suffering due to tsunamis worldwide?

    Thanks

  2. Please help me understand this post. In honor of a lover’s death, Nate is offering a temporary contribution to a charity in his name?

Yeah, I can’t even. Sorry, but that’s beyond cold.

  3. 16 years, wow. I remember feeling heart broken for Nate, seeing him on Oprah. I don’t remember much else about the year. Looking at the art work, beautiful it is.

  4. Wonderful posting. Nate and Fernando was a loving and beautiful couple.
