Nadal to miss US Open for 2nd time in 3 years

Spanish heartthrob Rafael Nadal, currently ranked number 2 in the world, announced today that he will not be playing in the US Open which begins next week.

He’s got an injured wrist.

I like Nadal, think he’s a class act and an amazing champion who plays with grit and passion.

But whenever he’s playing against my Roger Federer, he’s the enemy and must be defeated.

His absence from Flushing Meadows will elevate Federer to the #2 seed and, hopefully, ease his path to a record sixth title.

Here is what Nadal said in a statement: “I am very sorry to announce I won’t be able to play at this year’s U.S. Open, a tournament on which I’ve played three consecutive finals in my last participations. … I am sure you understand that it is a very tough moment for me since it is a tournament I love and where I have great memories from fans, the night matches, so many things… Not much more I can do right now, other than accept the situation and, as always in my case, work hard in order to be able to compete at the highest level once I am back.”
