My night at the foul-mouthed MTV Movie Awards

Even Reese Witherspoon said “motherfucker.”

It was just that kinda night at the MTV Movie Awards, the most foul-mouthed, tasteless affair I’ve been to in quite while.

When cute little Alexys Nycole Sanchez, age 7, stepped onto the stage to accept the award for best movie line (she said “I want to get chocolate wasted!” in Grown-Ups), my first thought was: “I hope someone has been covering her ears during pretty much this entire show.”

Host Jason Sudeikis set the tone early on when he discussed the Twilight love triangle between Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner): “My heart says Jacob but my wiener says Edward. My balls are indifferent.”

Then just seconds after Sudeikis left the stage, presenter Justin Timberlake called him an “asshole” then proceeded to grab co-presenter Mila Kunis’s breasts. She responded by grabbing his crotch.

Later, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were involved in a bit where some of the male audience members were given bright green laser beam “boners” and Reynolds tried to ruin their “mood” by describing things like a nude Donald Trump with baby powder on or something revolting like that.

Witherspoon made her “motherfucker” remark to clear up a joke her Water for Elephants co-star Pattinson had made during the presentation for her MTV Generation Award. He had complained that when he played her son in the film Vanity Fair seven years ago, his part was cut out. But in Elephants, “I didn’t get cut out but I did fuck you.”

Has everyone lost their minds?

But leave it to Witherspoon, an Oscar winner and the mother of two children, to make a valid point about celebrity these days: “I know it’s cool to be bad. … But It’s also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show.”

She remarked that it wasn’t too long ago that “when you made a sex tape, you hid it under your bed.”

The awards were dominated by Twilight: The Eclipse which was a pity in terms of Pattinson and Stewart having to make multiple trips to the podium and appearing increasingly awkward each time. It was fun though when the pair won best kiss and Pattinson ran into the audience and planted a kiss on Lautner.

In the end, they won favorite movie, thankfully it was Lautner who accepted the award. He was articulate and gracious – just like a star should be.
