My LA Pride Weekend recommendation: “Get Happy: A Musical Play Celebrating the 90th Birthday of Judy Garland”

This is just the most amazing bit of synergy.
LA’s Pride Weekend begins today and concludes on Sunday which is the same day gay icon Judy Garland would have turned 90.
So where else would you want to find yourself Friday, Saturday or Sunday night than in the audience of Get Happy: A Musical Play Celebrating the 90th Birthday of Judy Garland starring the incomparable Peter Mac.
Peter has been performing as Judy at Peter Mac’s Supper Club inside the the French Market in West Hollywood for much of the year but this is a new show he has put together that includes six wigs and ten costumes that replicate actual moments from Judy’s life.
Margaret O’Brien, who co-starred with Garland in Meet Me in St. Louis, is going to be attending Sunday night’s show.
Peter as Judy (and his very talented partner D.j. Schaefer as Bea Arthur) will be in the media tent at the Pride Festival on Saturday and in the parade on Sunday (riding in a sexy convertible I’m told!).
Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. with the room opening for dinner at 7 p.m. Sunday’s show will take place at 7 p.m. and open for dinner at 6 p.m.
Those attending Saturday and Sunday will be treated to a cake reception afterward and sing “Happy Birthday” to “Judy”.
