My interview with Bryan Dattilo who plays Will Horton’s dad Lucas on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives”

It was great to catch up with Bryan Dattilo last month when the cast of NBC’s Days of Our Lives participated in a panel at Paley Center in Beverly Hills.

But I also got Bryan’s thoughts on President Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage which occurred earlier on the very day we spoke: “I think that the relationship that people have is individual of course. You can’t tell anybody that they can’t get married if they’re in love. A lot of people that I know who have a mate have had that mate longer than a lot of people who are straight. If they’ve made that choice to be committed to each other for a lifetime, it should be honored.”

Bryan began playing Lucas in 1993. He was on the show for the next 17 years except for a brief period in 2001 and 2002. Then two years ago, he was taken off contract and opted not to stick around on an as-needed basis.

But now he’s back on Days in the thick of things dealing with ex-wife Sami and, of course, Will’s coming out and now his arrest for murder.

He’s having a great time.
