My brief chat with Jack Falahee about his instant fame: ‘I’m hanging in. It’s weird but I like it’

I don’t know about you, but it feels like ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder just ended way too fast.

I’m not crazy about having to wait until the fall for new episodes and the biggest reason, if I’m honest, is that I want to see what’s next for Connor Walsh, the sexy law student played by Jack Falahee.

I had a brief chat with Jack at the GLAAD Media Awards a few weeks ago made even more brief because the show was just about to start and he was being pulled away by a publicist.

I asked him what his hopes were for Connor next season in terms of storyline.

‘Vacationing on a sailboat in The Mediterranean,’ he said.

With Oliver Hampton, the cutie pie computer technician Connor has developed feelings for?

‘Sure. Or solo – just me on a boat shooting off the coast of Italy sounds really nice. No more cases, nothing. Just on a sailboat.’

Who could blame him? Connor may have gotten a lot of sex last season but he also went through a lot of hell as he tried to meets the demands of his force of nature law professor (Viola Davis) and got involved in a cover up of the killing of her husband.

The actor has also dealt with questions about his own sexuality which he has steadfastly declined to discuss in interviews. Falahee doesn’t agree that actors who play gay roles should be outed as gay or straight just because people are curious.

‘It’s alright,’ he says of his instant fame. ‘I’m hanging in. Yeah, it’s weird but I like it.’

And a lot of people like him.
