MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts reports from Russia
Thomas Roberts arrived in Russia yesterday and hit the ground running with an interview with Anton Krasovsky who was fired from his TV anchor job earlier this year after announcing on air that he is gay.
‘This is a remarkable young guy,’ he says of Krasovsky. ‘There was this great sadness in his eyes about losing his job but also great pride in the fact that he’s taken this on. It’s a real integration of his spirit that he’s taken this on.’
Roberts is in Russia to co-host this weekend’s Miss Universe pageant but had said he also planned to do some reporting while there.
I think he was unfairly criticized by some who thought he was selling out by taking the gig. Anyone who watches his MSNBC show every morning knows his heart and energy is in the right place when it comes to LGBT issues.

Dear Thomas,
Thank you for making all of us who criticized you for going to Russia look like jerks.
Your pal.

I’ve always been a fan and supporter since the CNN days and of his stance for being out and proud. Bravo to Thomas for this first ever important report from Russia and best of luck on a successful hosting job this weekend.
