Movie Trailer: Tom Cruise is shirtless in this preview to “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”
This is the first official trailer for Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation which hits theaters on July 31.
It features a shirtless Tom Cruise playing hero Ethan Hunt for the fifth time.
Other returning cast members include Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn and Jeremy Renner as William Brandt. They are fighting to take down an evil rogue nation known as the Syndicate. The cast also includes Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson of Starz’s The White Queen.
I’m looking forward to seeing this as I am for all of Tom Cruise’s movies which have not always gotten a fair shot in recent years because of his not-so-hot public image. The divorces and the Scientology as well as the Oprah and Matt Lauer interviews seem to have done irreparable harm to his box office clout – at least domestically. He remains a huge draw internationally.
I really thought last year’s Edge of Tomorrow was a terrific film, one of my favorites of 2014. But it was not as big a hit as it should have been with too many people comparing it to Oblivion from the year before which was not near as good.
So another Mission Impossible flick is just what a hit-starved Cruise could use right about now, 32 years after bursting onto the scene in 1983’s Risky Business.
He’s had a pretty good run!

I find Tom Cruise films to be generally entertaining. Love the cast which includes Simon Peg and Alec Baldwin. I usually don’t let an actor’s political, religious or philosophical views effect my decision on whether or not to see a movie they’re in.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good actor and in pretty good shape (and that’s besides whatever lunatic cult he may be part of) but IMHO there is an age where you have to begin to let the youngsters show their muscles. And I mean when they do it in such extended fashion beyond an occasional need for a scene. But that’s my opinion, he is more than ok physically but not to the point of (cinematically) be able to compete with younger actors, the comparisons become unflattering and Cruise has won a place among character actors, that is, he is not depending (entirely) on his good looks for a role.
FAEN says:
Unfortunately none of the ‘Mission Impossible’ movies comes close to the first IMHO.
James says:
I avoid his movies like the plague.
