One Remark

    Tommy Marx says:

Besides looking a little bizarre (how exactly do you illustrate a magazine cover to look like a really bad, botched photoshop disaster?), I question why Rock Hudson would be on the cover of a magazine celebrating Pride, especially as he is not, in the words of EW, an “iconic LGBTQ” star.

With all due respect, and knowing quite well what the constraints of that time period were, there are so many out and proud actors I think would’ve fit much, much better into the Pride theme instead of an actor who died closeted.

I know everyone could debate the choices – one-hit wonder Lil Nas X over a true musical icon like George Michael? highly underrated actor Kristen Stewart over one of the most successful out actors of all time, Neil Patrick Harris? – but Rock Hudson? He is certainly a legend, but I don’t know of anyone that would consider him a gay icon in any way whatsoever.

This comes across more as a crass advertisement for the Netflix “Hollywood” series from Ryan Murphy who, shocker, is also featured on the cover than anything having to do with LGBTQ Pride.

I do appreciate the brick between Lil Nas X and George, however. It’s a nice nod to Stonewall.
