Morning Man Classic: Sam Melville!

There are probably some of you who remember the handsome and sexy Sam Melville who played Officer Mike Danko for four seasons on ABC’s The Rookies in the 1970s.

On the show, his wife was played by future Charlie’s Angels star Kate Jackson who was nurse Jill Danko.

Melville and jackson later reunited on her later hit series Scarecrow and Mrs. King on which he had a recurring role as her ex-husband. He was also best known for his role in the surfing film Big Wednesday and was in The Thomas Crown Affair starring Steve McQueen.

Oddly, he also guest starred three times on TV’s The Dukes of Hazzard but in a different role each time.

I’m featuring Sam because he was born 84 years ago today. Sadly, he was just 52 when he died in 1989 of heart failure.
