Morning Man Classic: Fred MacMurray!

Fred MacMurray’s was born on this day 116 years ago.

The actor, who played Steven Douglas for 12 seasons on the comedy My Three Sons, was one handsome guy and an absolute heartthrob as a young actor,

Prior to his TV success, MacMurray appeared in more than 100 movies including the 1944 film noir Double Indemnity directed by Billy Wilder in which he starred with Barbara Stanwyck.

He starred with Claudette Colbert in seven films beginning with The Gilded Lily (1935). He co-starred with Katharine Hepburn in Alice Adams (1935), with Joan Crawford in Above Suspicion (1943), and with Carole Lombard in four films, Hands Across the Table (1935), The Princess Comes Across (1936), Swing High, Swing Low (1937), and True Confession (1937).

Other films included The Trail of the Lonesome Pine, Above Suspicion, Where Do We Go from Here?, The Apartment, The Caine Mutiny and a series of hit Disney comedies including The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor, and Son of Flubber.

He died in 1991 at the age of 83. He had been married since 1954 to June Haver.

  1. I love him in everything. Especially the Stanwyck pictures. I just watched The Moonlighter” last week, and I look forward to Remember The Night every Christmas
