Morning Man Classic: Cary Grant!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3099/2806470686_ef8f9ec48f.jpg?v=0Cary Grant was born 116 years ago today so it seems as good a time as any to once again shine a light on that handsome face.

The man born Archibald Alexander Leach in 1904 was named the second Greatest Male Star of All Time (after Humphrey Bogart) by the American Film Institute.

He was known for comedic and dramatic roles; his best-known films include Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, Arsenic and Old Lace, Notorious, An Affair to Remember, North by Northwest and Charade.

A two-time Academy Award nominee, Grant was presented with an honorary Oscar in 1970.

He was married five times, including marriages to heiress Barbara Hutton and to actress Dyan Cannon with whom he had a daughter. But he lived with actor Randolph Scott for more than a decade and, according to multiple sources, were involved romantically.

It was such a different time then and neither man ever acknowledged anything more than friendship – publicly at least.

2 Remarks

  1. To me, he is the best actor, ever. They don’t make them like him, any more. Too bad they couldn’t live more openly, then. Lives then were tightly controlled by the studios and nasty bible-thumpers.

  2. An Affair to Remember, what a movie. I was like… who wouldn’t fall in love with Cary Grant. The man was smooth, just sexy. I’m still in love with him.
