Monday Morning Man: Dominic Thiem!
I’m not through making a fuss over Dominic Thiem who won the US Open men’s championship yesterday in five sets over Alexander Zverev.
The 27-year-old Austrian star told the media after the match that he had been extremely nervous and tight during the first few sets then got so tense near the end that he started to cramp. But he finally prevailed in a fifth set tie-breaker and also began the first man in more than 70 years to win the title after losing the first two sets in the final.
I was sure he would lose after the first set and a half but once he calmed down, cut down on his errors, and Zverev cooled off a touch, the match became anybody’s game.
Dominic is so handsome and has the best booty in tennis so his victory is so great for a game that has been dominated since 2004 by either Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Novak Djokovic. Thiem has beaten all of the big three on several occasions but had lost the last two French Open finals to Nadal and this year’s Australian Open to Djokovic.
This was his time.
