Moments from legendary life of Lauren Bacall
It all began when the then-wife of director Howard Hawks saw a young model named Betty Bacall on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar.
She was soon flown to Hollywood, screen tested and cast opposite Humphrey Bogart in 1944’s To Have and Have Not.
Bacall, whose name was changed to Lauren, became an overnight star and Mrs. Humphrey Bogart.
What followed were 70 uninterrupted years of fame.
These photos reflect a life of extraordinary accomplishment and experiences with presidents, royalty, fellow stars, husbands and children – clearly a life lived to the fullest.
