Modern Family: Phil is kissed and shares shirtless hug with Mitch and Cam’s gay friend during “date”

Since ABC’s Modern Family is Mitt and Ann Romney’s favorite show, I wonder if they were watching this week’s episode now that they have a little more time on their hands.

Anyway, you would think that after all these years of having Mitch and Cam as brothers-in-law that Modern Family’s Phil Dunphy would be a little less clueless.

Or maybe he’s become so comfortable being around gay men he doesn’t even know when he’s on a date with one!

That’s what happened on this week’s episode when Phil (Emmy winner Ty Burrell) invites Mitch and Cam’s gay friend over to watch some football.

The friend, played by two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick, completely misreads the situation and thinks he’s on a date.

And who can blame him?

Margaritas are poured, they are spilled on shirts, shirts are removed, there is a shirtless hug.

And finally, there is a kiss.
