Mike Rogers vs. Doug Mckelway in war of words

There’s been a lot of attention over Doug Mckelway expressing a desire to take blogger Mike Rogers outside and punching him “across the face” during an interview on News Channel 8 Let’s Talk Live about the documentary film Outrage in which Rogers appeared.

Mckelway seems to think that outing a closeted politician with an anti-gay voting record is the worst thing in the world.

The remark comes at the 2 min. 45 second mark. But I don’t think that’s the worst thing in this interview. Mckelway is so in a lather that he cannot conduct the interview in a professional way. And how can this dude be so worked up when he hasn’t even seen the movie! Not only that, they don’t seem to have even read a media kit. He even focuses on Mark Foley who is not really a presence in the movie at all.

Mckelway has refused to apolgize for the punching remark but really should apologize to his viewers for not being prepared to do his job. Rogers handled himself well, especially with this line: “Clearly this is more important to you than anyone I’ve ever spoken to about this.”

Rogers was scheduled to reappear on the show again Friday but the appearance was canceled.
