Michelle Shocked: The Audio
So after I wrote all about Michelle Shocked’s apology and her version of events, audio surfaces from her performance at Yoshi’s last Sunday.
It doesn’t really back her up.
OregonLive.com reports that the singer talks about about pastors being forced at gunpoint to marry gays and that triggering the return of Jesus.
‘I was at a prayer meeting yesterday,’ she can be heard telling the crowd at Yoshi’s, ‘and you have to appreciate how scared, how scared people on that side of the equation are. I mean, from their vantage point, and I really shouldn’t say their, because it’s mine too, we are nearly at the end of time.’
‘And from our vantage point, we’re gonna be, uhhh, I think maybe Chinese water torture is gonna be the means, the method — once Prop 8 gets, uh, instated, and once, um, preachers are held at gunpoint and forced to marry the homosexuals, I’m pretty sure that that will be the signal for Jesus to come on back…You said you wanted reality….If someone would be so gracious as to please tweet out, ‘Michelle Shocked just said from stage, God hates faggots.’ Would you do it now?
‘The comment that has gotten the most attention is Shocked saying: ‘I live in fear that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry.’

Because EVERYONE will get the irony of ‘Michelle Shocked hates faggots’ on Twitter. That’s how the Internet works.
Fascinating how ironic & misunderstood she is when she her career began to evaporate within 48 hours.

Have to agree with Kyle. I don’t believe for one moment she meant anything other than what she said very clearly. There was nothing ironic about her comments and there was nothing remotely expressing any indication she didn’t mean it exactly as she said it.
Thankfully she lost every single booking she had publicly promoted minus one after the fact. I’m sure it won’t be long she’ll be playing the Fox News company picnic though.
