Michael Sam is engaged!

Theirs was the kiss that was literally seen around the world – and now they are getting married.

Michael Sam, the first openly gay man ever drafted by an NFL team, is engaged to boyfriend Vito Cammisano – the man he famously kissed on draft day.

The smooch was broadcast live on ESPN and was cheered by many but caused gay panic in others.

The proposal was made in Rome – the couple has been traveling in Europe since late December and rang in the new year in Spain.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, Cammisano said their relationship was just like anyone else’s.

‘We have our ups and we have our downs,’ he said. ‘We get in arguments over some of the silliest things ever but in the end I want to be with Mikey.’

Sam said he wanted to get married someday, and hopefully to Cammasino.

‘I think if someone wants to spend the rest of their lives with another person, by all means, do that,’ he said. ‘It’s all about equality.’
