Michael Sam is back on the field for CFL
So happy that Michael Sam has returned to pro football – we wouldn’t want Dancing With the Stars to be his crowning achievement!
After a mysterious two-week absence, Sam returned to the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes on Monday.
‘I was always coming back,’ he told the media after practice. ‘I had to deal with personal matters. That’s all taken care of and now I’m back.’
Sam said he continued to train during the two weeks he was home in Dallas and ‘never got out of shape.’
But Coach Tom Higgins seems to have a different opinion on Sam’s fitness.
‘He needs to one, first get in shape,’ Higgens told reporters. ‘Go to practice after practice all the time. … He knows he needs to work hard to get into shape. He’s here to practice and to earn the trust of his teammates. So far, so good.’
As the first openly gay player to ever be drafted by an NFL team, anything Sam does is under a spotlight. He was cut last year by the St. Louis Rams then later the Dallas Cowboys and never played in a regular season NFL game.
His absence from the team and vague explanation have led to reports of trouble in Sam’s relationship with college sweetheart Vito Cammisano to whom he became engaged last year.
Cammisano launched a new video blog this week and TMZ reports he is not wearing his engagement ring in it.

This is awesome news! I read that he had split from fiancé Vito Cammisano after a six month engagement. With all that’s ahead of him, I think he’s too young for a serious relationship at this time. He should focus on his pro football career and get that off the ground first. I mean, how many of us get a chance at a professional sports career? Get rid of the distractions and give it your all, Michael Sam!
Richard V says:
Ok Michael, don’t let anyone distract you from your dreams and take care of your business. And always, God bless.
