Michael Sam makes history in solid NFL debut
Micheal Sam made history last night as the first openly gay player to play in an NFL game.
In a pre-season exhibition, Sam’s team the St. Louis Rams suffered a 26-24 exhibition loss to the New Orleans Saints. He entered the game with about 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Sam told reporters after the game: “That I can play in this league, that’s the most important. I was kind of nervous. I got some nerves out today. It was a very good learning experience, and I can play in this league.”
