Meryl Streep pays tribute to Nora Ephron

So sad about the death of Nora Ephron, one of the most talented writers on the planet.

She directed Meryl Streep in one of my favorite Streep films Julie & Julia and wrote another one of my faves, Heartburn. In the latter, Streep played a fictionalized version of Ephron in Heartburn which was based on her best-selling novel of the same name. It was a thinly-veiled account of Nora’s marriage to journalist Carl Bernstein.

Streep said Ephron was “an expert in all the departments of living well.”

“You could call on her for anything: doctors, restaurants, recipes, speeches, or just a few jokes, and we all did it, constantly. Nora just looked at every situation and cocked her head and thought, ‘Hmmmm, how can I make this more fun?'”
