Meryl Streep is making a movie with … Rick Springfield! And she has to learn to play the guitar!
I was convinced a long time ago that Meryl Streep could do anything but I’ll be very curious to see how she pulls off being a rock musician.
The three-time Oscar winner and winner of every acting prize on the planet will star opposite Rick Springfield in Ricki and the Flash written by Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno) and directed by Oscar winner Jonathan Demme.
Streep will play a struggling musician and has to learn to play guitar for the role. Springfield will play will play a bandmember who has a crush on her.
Vanity Fair reports that the film is about “a woman who abandoned her family when she was younger to find fame and fortune in California.”
Kevin Kline and Streep’s real-life daughter, Mamie Gummer (so good in the indie flick Echo Park), round out the cast as Ricki’s ex-husband and estranged daughter.
