Meredith Baxter is returning to television – joins the cast of CBS soap “The Young and the Restless”
Sounds like Meredith Baxter has at last got herself a juicy acting gig again.
She’s a terrific actress who was a revelation as convicted murderer Betty Broderick in a pair of TV movies and, of course, we enjoyed her for years on the ABC drama Family then the NBC comedy Family Ties.
No she is joining the cast of CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, according to TVGuide.com.
She will play Maureen, a woman described as ‘charming, intelligent, middle-class woman who has always aspired to a more privileged life than she’s had. She appears kind and sympathetic, but can be quite manipulative. She is skilled at getting people to do the things she wants them to do by making them think it’s their idea.’
She will be hitting the sauce with her new drinking-buddy, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Maureen will be crossing with several key characters on the soap.
Meredith will make her first Y&R appearance on September 8 and will appear through the fall.
