Melissa Etheridge makes controversial comments about Angelina Jolie’s double masectomy
Melissa Etheridge is a breast cancer survivor.
So The Washington Blade asked her to comment on Angelina Jolie’s decision to have a preemptive double mastectomy because she has the BRCA1 gene that increases her risk of getting breast cancer.
Jolie said her chances of getting breast cancer have gone from 87 percent to 5 percent.
The Grammy and Oscar winning singer and songwriter believes that cancer comes from inside you and has to do with the environment of your body.
‘It’s the stress that will turn that gene on or not,’ she says. ‘Plenty of people have the gene mutation and everything but it never comes to cancer so I would say to anybody faced with that, that choice is way down the line on the spectrum of what you can do and to really consider the advancements we’ve made in things like nutrition and stress levels.’
She adds: ‘I’ve been cancer free for nine years now and looking back, I completely understand why I got cancer. There was so much acidity in everything. I really encourage people to go a lot longer and further before coming to that conclusion.’

Does she not realize that not only did Mizz Jolie’s mother die very young (57)from breast cancer but so did her two grandmothers. That’s enough to scare the shit out of me. I think that is a pretty big hint that she has a very high chance of getting some kind of cancer. Why go through the hell that is cancer when it could, very well be avoided. And,why put your family through that hell if possible. You know what they say Mizz Etheridge, about people who live in glass houses. Karma is a mega-bitch.
