Maulik Pancholy of “30 Rock” fame comes out
Always love when someone comes out publicly.
Don’t love the “I knew that” and “it’s no surprise’ comments though because they are useless and stupid. It’s about celebrating someone declaring their sexuality to the world and not being invisible.
Okay, off the soapbox. Trying to head off the snarky comments I’d probably delete anyway.
So, the news: Maulik Pancholy, best known for his recurring roles on the TV series 30 Rock and Weeds, is now publicly gay.
The 39-year-old actor had previously not discussed his sexuality but finally does so with Out Magazine as part of its annual Out 100 issue.
‘I just celebrated my nine-year anniversary with my partner,’ he says. ‘It feels like a nice time to be celebrating something like that, especially on the heels of the DOMA and Prop 8 decisions.’
With both 30 Rock and Weeds having ended their long runs, Pancholy is currently playing the title character in Nickelodeon’s animated series Sanjay and Craig.
Congrats to Maulik!

This is wonderful news. And congratulations to him and his partner for 9 years together!
There must be millions of Indian gay men and women. I wish I knew more about them.
Charlie says:
I agree with you Greg. Until someone comes out publicly and says they are gay, its their own private life. They should be celebrated when they come out!
I thought that it was strange when Nathan Lane came out and said that he thought everyone already knew he was gay. It doesn’t matter what anyone “thinks”. Until someone comes out and says it, its just gossip. I think its important and empowering to physically say it out loud.
