Maryland is headed toward marriage equality on a day that New Jersey stopped by governor’s swift veto
Said O’Malley: ‘The common thread running through our efforts together in Maryland is the thread of human dignity; the dignity of work, the dignity of faith, the dignity of family, the dignity of every individual. Love is an unalienable right.’ See full story HERE.
Said Christie: ‘I continue to encourage the Legislature to trust the people of New Jersey and seek their input by allowing our citizens to vote on a question that represents a profoundly significant societal change. I have been just as adamant that same-sex couples in a civil union deserve the very same rights and benefits enjoyed by married couples, as well as the strict enforcement of those rights and benefits.’ See full story HERE.
What a week in history on the gay marriage front – what a month! Let’s not forget that it was just on Monday that Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire signed gay marriage into law in that state and just two weeks ago that the 9th District Court of Appeals ruled that California’s Proposition 8 is unconstitutional.
These are historic times we are living in!
