Martina Navratilova plays doubles match on Margaret Court Arena named for gay marriage foe

Martina Navratilova is playing in the “legends” doubles tournament at the Australian Open and wouldn’t you know it, her first match was scheduled to be played on Margaret Court Arena – a stadium named for one of that country’s most outspoken opponents of gay marriage.

Martina told reporters after her match that she hadn’t spoken to Court for years:.“She was all about Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. She repeated that about four or five times, so I just felt I couldn’t get through to her. Maybe she thought she could get through to me.”
