Marie Osmond, the mother of a lesbian daughter, is speaking out about marriage equality
I’ve always enjoyed Marie Osmond and rooted for her.
I know she has a lesbian daughter but until I watched this segment from last night’s ABC World News, I had not seen her speak out so beautifully about her daughter and how she wants her daughter to have the same civil rights as everyone else – including marriage.
‘I believe in [my daughter's] civil rights, as a mother,’ Marie says. ‘I think my daughter deserves everything that she desires in life. She’s a good girl. She’s a wonderful child. I don’t think God made one color flower. I think he made many.’
And even more important, she talks about God being about love and not about fear.
“The God that I believe in is a god of love, not fear. I don’t tell my children if you’re not good you’re going to Hell. I tell my children that God will be there for them when they struggle. That’s the God I believe in.”
Marie has a new book out called The Key is Love: My m=Mother’s Wisdom, A Daughter’s Gratitude. I hope it’s a big seller!

I’m happy to hear from a member from such a family such as the Osmond’s! My parents have had to ‘deal’ with a lot, albeit in private, but they have also had to ‘deal’ with the notion of the end of a family name. Kudos, Marie! I loved you when you came on the scene in the 70′s and I still love you.
