Lunch Break Video: When psycho Dr. Kimberly Shaw wigged out on the original “Melrose Place”
In celebration of tonight’s premiere of the new Melrose Place on the CW, thought it would be fun to look back at a few classic scenes from the original series that ran on Fox from 1992-99.
It’s large ensemble cast changed over the years and the plots got really outrageous at times, but for much of the show’s run, it was must-see TV, something everyone talked about at the office the next day.
It starred, among others, Heather Locklear, Grant Show, Doug Savant, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Andrew Shue, Laura Leighton, Josie Bissett, Kristin Davis, Thomas Calabro, Patrick Muldoon, Vanessa Williams, Rob Estes, Jack Wagner, Daphne Zuniga, Lisa Rinna, Kelly Rutherford and, of course, Marcia Cross.
It’s difficult to imagine Marcia Cross playing a character as juicy as Bree Van de Kamp on Desperate Housewives but she did for several seasons on Melrose Place. Kimberly Shaw started out sweet enough but after she and Michael Mancini were involved in a car accident, she returned a different woman – a completely psychotic one.
The first scene below is the first time we the terrible scare left on her head after the accident and learn that she wears a wig to hide it.
The second is another wig scene. This time Matt (Doug Savant) pulls it right off her head!
Enjoy!
