Lunch Break Video: Some songs from Karen Carpenter, who would have been 60 years old today
She died far too young – at the age of 32 in 1983 – but the gorgeous voice of Karen Carpenter lives on through the extensive body of work she and brother Richard created i over a 12-year period.
Karen would have been 60 years old today.
I love all the big hits like Yesterday Once More, Close to You, Goodbye to Love, Rainy Days and Mondays, Superstar, Won’t Last a Day Without You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World, and I Need to Be in Love.
Let’s relive some of those wonderful songs:

The day Karen Carpenter died my Dr. called me and said you are next. At that time you never heard of a man dealing with anorexia so nobody really knew to do with me. Chances are I wouldn’t be alive today if I hadn’t seen what happened to Karen Carpenter. Her death convinced me that I had to consider I had a problem that might really be serious. I am 5’7″ and never weighed over 115 until I was in my late 30’s.

I’m still in love with her after all these years and miss her deeply…. As a child growing up and being able to hear her voice was only a few wonderful things in my life then.
I actually felt something leave me when she died and having never met her personally I can only wonder……..
40 now……
