Lunch Break Video: Some early “AbFab”

Just thinking back to the first time I ever watched an episode of Absolutely Fabulous 10 years ago makes me smile.

A fellow journalist friend of mine (gay, of course) was raving about them and when I said I had never heard of the show, he invited me over and we watched at least four episodes on VHS back-to-back in his Long Beach apartment.

I remember laughing in that almost pee-your-pants kind of way, just loving these characters of Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) who were so self-absorbed and unaware of how very off-putting they are to everyone else. They make the perfect BFFs!

Saunders is a comedy genius. The way she throws in “darling” and “sweetheart” as she says the most awful things to people is hilarious!

Anyway, these clips are from season one’s first episode. I like the earliest stuff best and this was the beginning of a very good thing..
