Lunch Break Video: Sing-along to Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” on the singer’s 60th birthday

http://www.feelgoodradio.co.uk/BillyGrant/gloria-gaynor.jpgGloria Gaynor’s first big hit was 1974’s Never Can Say Goodbye in 1974. But that was just a warm-up for what was to be not only her anthem, but an anthem for every gay man who’s ever had a broken heart. The song is I Will Survive and it reached number one in 1979. Thirty years later the song is still going strong.

Today, Miss Gaynor Turns 60 years old. To celebrate, play the song and sing along.

2 Remarks

  1. It was great seeing Gloria on Wendy Williams today singing I Will Survive. She worked the audience and turned the mic out for them to sing along to.

  2. GLORIA GAYNOR was instrumental in launching my television career. She was one of the very first celebrities I interviewed when she played Orlando in 1978. She was so gracious and cooperative. Years later, she returned to O-Town for another club date and I got to meet her again. When I asked her to autograph the newspaper clipping of her appearance on my TV show, she asked me if she could keep it. That touched me. Do you remember when DONNA SUMMER addressed her audience and told them “AIDS is your sin!” That nearly ended her career because of the bad publicity. But when Gloria Gaynor told the mostly-gay audience during her concert what Jesus Christ did for her just before she belted out “I Will Survive” she got a standing ovation. Now that’s class!”
