Lunch Break Video: Shelley Winters on “Attitudes”

Shelley Winters was one of the great actresses who starred in such classics as A Place in the Sun, The Diary of Anne Frank, A Patch of Blue, Night of the Hunter, A Double Life, Lolita, Alfie and, of course The Poseidon Adventure.
She went from the blond bombshell who was once roommates with Marilyn Monroe to two-time Oscar winner to wonderful character actress.
Miss Winters, who died in 2006 at the age of 85, acted well into her 70s with her best-known role as the grandma on Roseanne. One of her best later films, in my opinion, was 1989’s An Unremarkable Life opposite Patricia Neal.
But the role I loved Miss Winters’ best in was as a kooky version of herself on the various talk shows. She was at her best when she was promoting her best-selling autobiographies Shelley: Also Known as Shirley and Shelley II: The Middle of My Century. She’d dish about her four husbands and various lovers including Marlon Brando, Sean Connery, Burt Lancaster and William Holden.
It was delish!
Above is a clip of Shelley on the old Lifetime talk show Attitudes co-hosted by Linda Dano and Dee Kelly. The year was 1989. Below is a clip of Miss Winters after winning her second Academy Award.
