Lunch Break Video: See the new trailer of the great Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher in “Iron Lady”
Of course I worship Meryl Streep but I am vowing, right now, not to get too caught up in whether or not she will finally win a long-overdue third Academy Award for her latest film.
Miss Streep appears to be a shoo-in to earn a 17th Oscar nod for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in Iron Lady. She has Oscars for 1979′s Kramer vs. Kramer and 1982′s Sophie’s Choice.
In my opinion, she should have won two years ago for Julie & Julia, the year before that for Doubt and in 1999 for One True Thing.
I’ll be rooting for Meryl but I’m well aware that she has been so good for so long that Academy member seem to want to reward others.
Anyway, here is the trailer for Iron Lady which hits theaters on Dec. 30.

Streep has really proved herself over the years and is probably one of the best actors today. However, I have to disagree with you on her performance in “Doubt.” If you were not fortunate to see Cherry Jones in the role, then I would say you were right. After seeing Cherry’s interpretation, I found Streep’s performance to be forced. The actor who should have won for “Doubt” is Viola Davis. In just one powerful scene, she walked away with the movie.
