Lunch Break Video: Kurt Hummel’s triumphant performance of “I Am Not The Boy Next Door” on “Glee”
One of the highlights of this week’s terrific episode of Glee was when Kurt Hummel (played by Chris Colfer) auditioned for the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Initially set to do a number from Phantom of the Opera, Kurt changes course once onstage and performs I Am Not The Boy Next Door from The Boy From Oz.
Can you believe those tight gold pants?

Yes can believe the pants, think Kurt’s got ‘”Moves Like” Peter Allen’.

Another excellent episode & performance! During his number, I said – WOW, look how good he looks – he is filling out. And his singing has always been exceptional. It is so fun to watch as these actors go thru their transitional period in high school/young adulthood. It makes me think of Zac Efron and Daniel Radcliffe at the beginning of their series and the present. I hate to see any changes to Glee – but we know it is coming.

Nicely done. It would be interesting to see this juxtaposed with “Curt’s” first solo performance, Mr. Cellophane. How wonderful that so many people have had the opportunity to watch Chris and the rest of the cast grow and mature as performers over the past three years. Thanks to Ryan Murphy for betting that America was ready for characters and role models who were “not the boy next door.”
