Lunch Break Video: Rhoda & Mary’s themes

I’ll admit it, I wanted to be a Mary but I was always more of a Rhoda.

Anyone over the age of 39 or so knows exactly what I’m talking about. Mary was perfect single career gal Mary Richards played Mary Tyler Moore on her classic namesake sitcom. Rhoda was her funny and self-deprecating best pal Rhoda Morgenstern played by Valerie Harper.

After four seasons on the MTM Show and three Emmys, Harper got her won series, simply called Rhoda. she won another Emmy and the show ran for five seasons. The MTM Show lasted three years without Rhoda – a void taken up deliciously by Betty White’s Sue Ann Nivens.
