Lunch Break Video: Olivia and Travolta letting each other know “You’re the One That I Want”
Oh, this takes me back a few summers. Okay, quite a few summers but who’s counting?
John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John at their sexiest in the 1978 musical Grease, a true classic that does indeed stand the test of time. There are many highlights in the film like the opening Summer Lovers to Stockard Channing’s wickedly funny Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee, but nothing beats this number near the end: You’re the One That I Want.
BTW: One of my best-ever memories of nearly a decade of covering Hollywood came in 2003 at a huge party for the film’s 25th anniversary held on the lot of Paramount Studios. An Entertainment Tonight producer who I had been gabbing with at the party tipped me off that I might want to secure a good spot close to the stage – something was about to happen. I maneuvered my way up front and was about 10 feet from where, minutes later, Travolta and Olivia surprised the audience and did this number together for the first time in decades.

BONUS VIDEO: The entire cast then joins in for the finale: We Go Together: Can you do the lyrics to that one? I’m kinda lost after “We go together Like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong!”
