Lunch Break Video: Jimmy Connors reflects on his legendary 1991 US Open run

A wonderful Labor Day tradition for me is watching US Open tennis with my dad.

Yesterday, we watched Serena Williams play a dominating match then watched Mardy Fish lose a heartbreaking five-setter to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

It was 20 Labor Days ago that dad and I sat in the same den watching the US Open and on that day, 39-year-old Jimmy Connors pulled out a five-set win over 24-year-old Aaron Krickstein. It was a thriller and I remember how exciting it was and how thrilled we were when Jimmy won.

This past weekend, CBS did a special on Jimmy’s magical run and did interviews not only with the tennis legend himself, but some of his opponents that year.

It’s great stuff.

Enjoy!

One Remark

  1. It was a run for the gaes in tennis and I don’tthink we’ll ever see anything like it again, and, cute Aaron just went away after that it seems. Lets gooooooooooo Serena 🙂
