Lunch Break Video: In honor of Kate Jackson’s 65th birthday, the last “Charlie’s Angels” reunion

Kate Jackson was my favorite on Charlie’s Angels because she was “the smart one” who wore turtlenecks. She also drove a Pinto and I wanted to get one when I got my license.

Hard to believe but today, Kate turns 65!

By the time Charlie’s Angels came along in 1976, Kate was already known in my house for her years on The Rookies as Jill Danko. She had also been a member of the cast of Dark Shadows.

Charlie’s Angels really suffered when Kate left after season three and never recovered. While Cheryl Ladd had replaced Farrah Fawcett very successfully in season two, it proved impossible to replace Kate although Shelly Hack and later Tanya Roberts certainly tried.

Kate, the only Angel to ever be nominated for an Emmy, went on to star in the hit series Scarecrow and Mrs. King and the shorter-lived Baby Boom.

She has not had a TV credit since a guest spot on Criminal Minds more than five years ago. That appearance came shortly after the wonderful reunion in this video with original Charlie’s Angels stars Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith at the 2006 Emmy Awards.

It was a tribute to Aaron Spelling and is especially poignant because shortly after, Farrah was diagnosed with cancer so this was her last television appearance before her death in 2006.

The three ladies seemed to have not aged a day!

Happy birthday to Kate!

One Remark

    Kate Jackson says:

    Dear Greg,
Thank you for your Birthday Wishes! You’re very nice to remember me on my BIG day and to write such a good article to go with them!
Wow, right? Sixty-five is both a happy surprise and a bit of a shock at the same time! Your kind wishes and words mean a lot to me-thank you once again!
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
    Love,
    Kate
