Lunch Break Video: Carol Burnett’s “Mildred Fierce”
The character of Mildred Fierce was created by Carol Burnett as a parody of Joan Crawford’s famed role in Mildred Pierce.
Since Kate Winslet has taken on the role in an upcoming HBO miniseries, I thought it would be fun to revisit Miss Burnett’s parody of the story of tale of a long-suffering mother and her ungrateful daughter.

According to published reports, Joan Crawford enjoyed this spoof. She even sent Carol Burnett a note of congratulations and playfully mentioned that Ms. Burnett seemed to have spent more on her skit than Jack Warner did on the original production!
