Lunch Break Video: Carol Burnett as Miss Hannigan sings bitterly about “Little Girls” in 1982’s “Annie”
As unlikely as it may seem, I’ve never seen the feature film version of Annie. It’s unlikely because I love musicals and worship Carol Burnett who played the lush Miss Hannigan and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for best actress in a musical or comedy.
Anyway, last night I was at Spurline bar in Palm Springs where every Friday night is an evening of showtunes. One of the videos was of Miss Burnett singing Little Girls.
She is, of course, brilliant.

25 years after I first saw this movie and sang and danced on the couch to every song, I am showing it to my little girl and feel just as much joy an amazement as I did then! She did such an unparalleled performance it will probably forever remain my favorite musical, both in the writing and especially in the acting thanks to Carol!!
