Lunch Break Video: Bette Davis explains her disastrous Academy Awards show performance to Joan Rivers
It was Bette Davis who presented the best actor Academy Award when Paul Newman won in 1987 for The Color of Money and watching from home, it seemed that she had lost her train of thought. But really, the show’s producer got impatient as she tried to introduce director Robert Wise who was going to accept for the absent Newman.
Miss Davis, who was a bit addled after having a stroke, was still quite formidable and went on Joan Rivers late-night talk show on FOX to tell the world what really happened.
