Lunch Break Video: Barbara Walters’ 1988 interview with a top-of-her-game Cher

My VHS tapes from 20 years ago are long gone so thank God for YouTube! I’d watched this interview with Cher many times and enjoyed it because it is from a time when Cher was at the pinnacle of her career.

She’d had more than two decades of success before then and two decades more since but at the time of this chat with Barbara Walters, Cher had three hit films in a row, was up for the Oscar that she would win for Moonstruck and had revived her music career in as big way.

While Cher has had much success recording, touring and now performing in Vegas, I’m so glad it’s been announced that she is going to make a movie again. She will star with Christina Aguilera and Stanley Tucci in the musical Burlesque. Her last movie was 2003’s Stuck On You, a comedy with Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear that called for her to play a fictionalized version of herself.
