Lunch Break Video: A harried Diane Keaton has in “Baby Boom.” Screams: “I used to be cute!”

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/08/17/article-1207085-05D0E29B000005DC-772_306x560.jpgJust by chance, I caught a rerun of Something’s Gotta Give yesterday on television and even though I had not planned to and have the DVD, ended up watching the entire movie. Jack Nicholson is wonderful in it but it really is Diane Keaton’s film. She makes us laugh, touches us, and shows how good she still is when given a good script.

Anyway, I started thinking of some of my favorite Diane Keaton movies and scenes. When Al Pacino slams the door on her face in Godfather II and when she tells him she had an abortion.  In Marvin’s Room when her dying character tells Meryl Streep that “I’ve had love.”  In First Wives Club when she goes off on Stephen Collins and Marcia Gay Hardin: “I’m sooooorrrryyy!!!” Then, there’s just about every scene she is in in both Annie Hall and Reds.

It’s no wonder she’s been nominated for an Oscar four times (winning once) and continues to land leading roles in movies nearly 40 years after her film debut in the 1970 movie Lovers and Other Strangers.

I couldn’t easily find my favorite scene from Something’s Gotta Give (Her and Nicholson walking on the beach) so I decided to save that for another day. Instead, here are some scenes from the wonderful comedy Baby Boom. She’s a Manhattan career woman who inherits the baby of a relative. The first day, she tries to put the baby in the coat check at the restaurant. She eventually moves to the country to try and make a go of motherhood. It doesn’t go so well at first and about four minutes into the clip, the comopletely loses it in a scene that is classic Keaton.

Enjoy!
