Lunch Break Video: A candid conversation between Belinda Carlisle and her gay son James Duke Mason
I’ve never met him but I have great admiration for James Duke Mason, the 18-year-old son of Belinda Carlisle who launched the Trailblazer campaign recently which encourages actors to come out publicly.
Well, after seeing this video of a conversation between mother and son, you can tell why he’s such a great kid. He’s got a mother and a father who really get him and love him.”
“I couldn’t see a thing any other way and I don’t think [your] dad could either,” Belinda says to her son.
I particularly like what Belinda has to say about parents who kick their kids out of the house when they find out they are gay.
“That’s your flesh and blood, that’s your baby,” she said.
Belinda says she “probably wouldn’t be very nice” to a parent who did that and would ask: “What kind of a monster are you?”
