Lucypalooza! Lucille Ball visits with old friend Joan Rivers on “The Tonight Show” in 1984
So glad to have come across this clip of Lucille Ball guesting on The Tonight Show in 1984 when Joan Rivers was hosting.Joan had guested on Here’s Lucy more than a decade earlier (pictured) and clearly had great respect for her fellow comedy legend.
Lucy gets such a warm ovation from the crowd and Joan asks her what it feels like to be so appreciated by her fans. Lucy says: “I’m so grateful.”
The best part of this chat is when Lucy recalls how she got her start in Hollywood. She made the absolute most of her opportunities and of her talent.
Joan is appearing in Jamestown today as part of Lucy’s 100th birthday festivities and tweeted this: She was tough, smart, a brilliant comedian and a walking master class in comedy.
