Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner set to produce Leslie Jordan’s “Pink Carpet” show off-Broadway
Leslie Jordan may be small in terms of height, but he is huge when it comes to talent.
The actor, best known for his Emmy-winning role as Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace and as Brother Boy in the Sordid Lives feature film and television series.
What’s great about being as talented as Leslie is that when your TV show doesn’t get renewed (still a real head scratcher Logo) you can hit the stage with your own one-man show. And Mr. Jordan has a terrific one in My Trip Down the Red Carpet which opens off-Broadway in April. It’s this brilliant man’s take on Hollywood, fame, addiction, gay culture and learning to love oneself.
And guess who two of the producers are: Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner!
I love it! In case you didn’t know it, Lily and Leslie played brother and sister in the brilliant series 12 Miles of Bad Road. Oh, why would you not know that? Because HBO produced 12 episodes and for some insane reason, never aired them. Still ticks me off. I was lucky enough to get the screeners and can tell you that it was superb.
Lily said to BroadwayWorld: “I have seldom spent time working with anyone who so engaged me. What a storyteller! Completely open and honest, witty, charming, outrageously funny and filled with humor about himself and about navigating this life we all share.”
Miss Wagner, Lily’s significant other and professional partner of more than three decades explained: “Lily and I saw one of the early showcases of My Trip Down The Pink Carpet and knew at once that we were seeing a performance that we wanted to be a part of in any way possible. We felt it was a one man revelation that everyone should see. Leslie takes us on a rollicking, life-affirming trip down the shocking pink carpet of his wonderfully crazy life. The carpet is wall to wall laughs about the human condition and the little carbon footprints Leslie makes within it. His struggles with sexual identity prejudice and self doubt will resonate with anyone who has a heart and a funny bone.”
Pink Carpet will begin its 12 week run at the Midtown Theatre (163 West 46th St.) on April 14 with the official opening night on April 19.

Jane Wagner isn’t even really a public figure. Why has she done that to her face?
