Lily Tomlin and David Arquette among the celebs at Bob & Dolores Hope Memorabilia Auction reception

Just got home from the VIP reception for the Bob & Dolores Hope Memorabilia Auction.
The event was at Julien’s Auction House in Beverly Hills and there was a lot of really cool stuff there but I only had my eye on Mr. Hope’s People’s Choice Award which he received in 1980.
Those glass sculpture “trophies” are works of art!
But I didn’t have an extra $2,500 to open the bidding with so that will have to go to someone else.
I spotted David Arquette checking it out so maybe he’ll end up with it!
In addition to Mr. Arquette, the event was sprinkled with celebs and, of course, I was so happy to chat up Lily Tomlin who won another Emmy just four days ago.
If I look especially happy in this photo it’s because Miss Tomlin took my hand and said: ‘I really appreciate all that you do.” I knew she meant it because three years ago, out of the blue, she sent me an email thanking me for the coverage I had given to her Conversations With Coco Peru.
That’s an email you don’t delete!
Anyway, also chatted up Stefanie Powers who told me she wants to do then play Looped (she took over as Tallulah Bankhead for Valerie Harper) in London next year but “we need to find a theater.”
Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives and the new hit Devious Maids, breezed in and we chatted for a bit about his new show and he shared how much he adores Susan Lucci who is one of the stars of the series.
It was a pleasure to meet Linda Hope who said it was a bit bittersweet to be parting with her parents’ belongings but she had set aside all of the things that she really wanted.
Also spotted a shy Cassandra Peterson of Elvira fame and told her how much I enjoyed her in the new movie First Period.
Connie Stevens, Michael Feinstein and Ruta Lee were also at the event as were a number of Greg In Hollywood readers, some who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time.
One said: “I loved your Lauren Bacall birthday post the other day.”
These are the readers who make it all worthwhile.
