Late Night Video: When Olivia de Havilland surprised Bette Davis on TV’s ‘This Is Your Life’
In one of the episode of FX’s 2017 miniseries Feud had Olivia de Havilland (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones) accompanying her close friend Bette Davis to the Academy Awards the year Davis was nominated for Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? They appeared in four movies together and as this clip from This is Your Life shows, they got along with each other far better than they did with the respective Joans in their lives – Joan Crawford and Olivia’s younger sister Joan Fontaine.

I remember seeing this show. The best guest was Victor Buono who was in 2 movies that starred Bette Davis. When he was introduced, he came out to greet Bette but when he saw the couch ledge that everyone sat on when talking to Bette he looked at her and told her he was going to sit on the couch next to her. He told her if he sat on the ledge, she would probably go flying when his large frame would cause the couch to tip over. She thought that funny but he was probably right. He died at a young age and I believe his death was caused by the extra weight he carried. He was a great actor and it was too bad he died so young.
